Q. What is a wireless network? A. A wireless network allows to be connected to Internet at high speed (until 11 Mbps) using radio frequencies. The technological standard is known as IEEE 802.11x or with the acronym Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity). The wireless networks cover relatively reduced areas, with connection possibility until distances of the order of hundreds of meters from the antenna, moreover it has a lowest environmental impact, with power of approximately 100 milliwatts against the 3000 milliwatts of a cellular phone.

Q. What is it needed in order to be connected to a wireless network?
A. For the connection to a wireless network is necessary to have a terminal device (personal computer, notebook or PDA) provided by Wi-Fi connectivity. All most modern devices (with Intel Pentium Centrino processor abord) have this characteristic, while for terminals without embedded Wi-Fi feature, it can be obtained by an appropriate additional external PCMCIA or USB card that, once installed on the terminal, allows to be connected immediately to a wireless network.
Q. What does it must be made in order to become a customer enabled to the Retidimare services?
A. In order to access to the services, it is necessary to buy a prepaid card that contains a 16-characters access code and to carry out the procedure of user registration at first access time. In this way, the customer is enabled to select a couple of keys (UserID and Password) that allow him to use all the Retidimare services in all harbours of the network for the entire period of validity of the card. At registration time remind to input into the related field your e-mail in order to be allowed to get a new password in case you later forget it.
Q. What have to do an enabled customer in order to approach the Retidimare services?
A. In order to approach the wireless services and Internet navigation from one of the covered port is sufficient to switch on the own Wi-Fi device and open an Internet browser program (like MSExplorer, Firefox, Safari). Automatically it will be presented the Retidimare home page where, after pushing the Authentication button, you will be asked to authenticate yourself using the own UserID and Password in the right fields of the form. In order to approach the services from house or whichever other point is enough to be connected to the Retidimare web site and execute the authentication procedure.
Q. Is it possible to reach the Retidimare services during navigation on the own boat?
A. No. The signal in the more favourable conditions can cover until approximately a mile to wide from the limit of the harbouA. Therefore the wireless connection to Internet is possible only in the phase of approach or leaving from the entrance of the harbour and naturally in all the area of the harbour covered by the Wi-Fi connectivity.
Q. How do I register myself after having acquired one Prepaid Card?
A. As soon as you switch on your Computer under the RetidiMare WiFi HotZone on the screen it appears the RetidiMare Home Page of your harbour. Click on the Authentication red key and insert the Number of Voucher that it has been delivered to you together your Prepaid Card.
Q. How I can register myself using the Credit card?
A. As soon as you switch on your Computer under the RetidiMare WiFi HotZone on the screen it appears the Home Page of your harbour.
Click on Authentication red key and fill all the fields of the sequence of the forms. Your transaction happens on an opportunely protect circuit to guarantee the maximum security. The usage of the Credit card gives you the further flexibility to pay only the effective usage of the network (that it corresponds to the time that you use from the logon and the logoff).
Q. Where I can acquire the Prepaid cards?
A. Every harbour has its retailers. Ask in Direzione of the Port or consult the brochure in Italian that you find in the reception of the Direzione of the harbour.

Q. I registered myself but I do not succeed to reach the service
A. Probably you are in an area without coverage, in absence of signal or it has taken place a problem. Test later, ask if the other ones in your harbour have the same problem. In affirmative case we supply the solution.
Q. The navigation speed is much variable one: yesterday I went to 56kbps, while today I go only to 10 kbps
A. The Wi-Fi network is a radio network, that allows all those which are connected. For this reason as many customers are connected using the Wi-Fi coverage as it is low the navigation speed. This is independent from the fact that the signal is always at the same level.
Try to move yourself of some meters to be able to pick up the signal of another antenna or try later.
Q. When I switch on the PC in the harbour it does not appear me the Retidimare Home Page
A. Probably you are in an area without coverage, in absence of signal or your Wi-Fi card has probably not been correctly switched on or there is a logon problem. Verify if your PC works correctly. Test later, ask if the other ones in your harbour have the same problem. In affirmative case we supply the solution.
Q.I have forgotten my Password and from my PC I do not succeed to make anything because it does not allow me to browse. How can I retrieve it?
A. To this point you have three possibilities:
a) Ask someone at your harbour that makes you to use its PC, go to the link of Authentication and click on "Password Dimenticata?"
b) Go to the Internet Point of the Port and connect to www.retidimare.it/nameofthePort and go to the link of Authentication and click on "Password Dimenticata? "
c) From your PC buy a PayperUse access, that allows you a not bound access to prefixed time, go to the link of Authentication and click on "Password Dimenticata?"
In all the three cases your Password will come to send you to the e-mail address that you have communicated to the action of your first registration.
Q. How can I change the Password?
A. When you are in the Authentication page click on GBIA brand, click on the myGBIA section of the upper toolbar. You will be carried to one relative page to your account.
In the OPTIONS section you find the indication for the change.
Q. When a Prepaid Card is expired and I buy another one may I continue to browse or the system sends me logoff?
A. Upon the expiration of a Card the system stops the connection and it is necessary to insert a new number of voucher to be able to browse anymore: in alternative it is possible to use the Credit card.
The system perceives you 3 minutes before the expiration of your credit in order to allow you to have your new voucher, then upon the effective expiration you will be sent back to the RetidiMare Home Page.
When you insert your new voucher, active the push-button.
Click in order to begin your session
automatically you will be brought back to the WEB page in which you were at the moment of the logoff.
Q. When I buy another Card do I must change Username and Password? Do I can only insert the new number of the Card?
A. No, it is not necessary to change UserName and Password, it is enough to insert the new number of the voucher at the demand from the system.
Q. If I have a Voucher that expires after several days, every time that I logon, do I have to fill the 16 digits of the voucher?
A. No. If you use the User Name and Password that you have input at the moment of the registration.
Q. Do I must always leave the photocopy of my document every time that I purchase one new card or it has faith that one already delivered?
A. Every Retailer at the Port must necessarily have the photocopy of the Document of all the purchasers of Prepaid Cards. If you buy one for recharging, inform the Retailer so he could correctly link the new purchase to the copy of your document in its possession. In alternative use the Credit Card.
Q. From my PC I see a very good signal, but I do not succeed to load the Retidimare Home page.
A. Control if on your PC is installed a card for connection GSM/GPRS/UMTS that uses habitually when you are outside the Port.
Very often the driver of these cards creates conflicts with the driver of the Wi-Fi one.
Try to remove the GSM/GPRS/UMTS card and try to reconnect, if the problem persists you have to uninstall the GSM/GPRS/UMTS card and you will be able to browse speedy and in all tranquillity.
Q. From my boat I do not succeed to receive the signal of Retidimare, while I succeed to receive the signal of other Hot-Spots.
A. The Wi-Fi networks use varies transmission channels that come assign to you automatically in order to avoid interferences between the several networks.
The American standards preview the channels from 1 to 11, while in Europe it has been made a widening until channel 13.
Many PC, also if they have been acquired in Italy, use cards and software from USA. In this case it is necessary to acquire one external Wi-Fi adapter card (PCMCIA or USB - European standard).
Q. The signal inside the boat is not satisfactory, while outside it is optimal, but the sun does not make me to see the screen of the PC.
A. The boats is constructed with insulator material for which in some situations becomes necessary the purchase of a repeater in order to amplify the signal that comes from our antennas and distribute it inside the boat.
In extreme cases it becomes necessary a small external antenna.
Q. When I purchase one new card, do I must receive one receipt?
A. No. The same card is valid as receipt, the registry of the Retailer and the document of identity, to which the acquired card corresponds, is valid for whichever claim.
Q. I was connected and everything was fine, I went out for a cup a coffee and when I came back the connection was off, why? A.
Every radio system uses special algorythms to prevent from misuse and waist of resources, therefore after a non activity lasting 5 minutes users are removed from the server registers.
Pay attention that if you are in a Blog and are writing a long message you are NOT using the network and therefore you would be disconnected after 5 minutes.
